Uganda’s LGBTQ+ community faces a disturbing rise in human rights violations following the enactment of the Anti-Homosexuality Act (AHA) in May 2023. A report by Convening for Equality (CFE) documents over 1,250 rights violations in the last nine months, including torture, arbitrary arrests, and evictions. The international community has condemned the AHA and imposed sanctions on Uganda, but the core of the law remains intact, leaving the LGBTQ+ community in a climate of fear and persecution.
