KEY POINTS

  • Egypt debuts Exeed car, strengthening regional automotive leadership.
  • Over 50% domestic components are in Egyptian-made vehicles.
  • EGA factory produces 3,000 Exeed units annually.

In a major step toward solidifying Egypt’s role in regional automotive manufacturing, the country unveiled its first locally made Exeed car at the Egyptian-German Automotive (EGA) factory in 6th of October City, near Cairo.

The launch, overseen by Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, highlights the nation’s growing ambitions to establish itself as a key player in global car production.

During the factory visit, Al-Wazir toured the advanced production lines, showcasing the complete assembly of both Exeed cars and luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The facility’s infrastructure includes cutting-edge painting and final testing systems, demonstrating its capacity to meet international quality standards.

Boosting domestic manufacturing capacity

Al-Wazir, according to Daily News Egypt, emphasized the government’s commitment to boosting Egypt’s domestic manufacturing capabilities, citing the increasing integration of locally sourced components into locally assembled vehicles.

As a result of ongoing investments and collaboration with local manufacturers, the share of domestic parts in Egyptian-made vehicles has risen above 50 percent. He noted that well-known brands such as Nissan, General Motors, and El Nasr Automotive have contributed significantly to this development.

Currently, the EGA factory produces 1,200 Mercedes-Benz vehicles and 3,000 Exeed units annually. This output is set to grow, supported by Egypt’s National Strategy for Automotive Industry Development, which aims to further integrate domestic components such as upholstery, glass, and seating materials, all designed to meet stringent international quality standards.

Driving future expansion and export growth

Looking ahead, Al-Wazir revealed plans to explore export markets, particularly in the Arab world, as part of Egypt’s strategy to become a competitive global player in the automotive industry. He emphasized that this expansion would not only drive economic growth but also create significant job opportunities.

EGA CEO Yasser Saleh underscored the importance of the partnership with Exeed, describing it as a key driver of growth for Egypt’s rapidly expanding automotive sector. “We are dedicated to advancing local manufacturing, increasing the proportion of Egyptian-made components, and establishing Egypt as a hub for high-quality vehicle production,” Saleh affirmed.

The launch of two Exeed models, the RX and VX, marks a key step in EGA’s role in Egypt’s industrial transformation. The expansion of the lineup, emphasizing quality, local content, and export growth, is set to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional automotive powerhouse, driving economic and industrial growth.
