Sterling One Foundation recently announced its partnership with Agriculture Summit Africa (ASA) to tackle food security issues across Africa. Organized by Sterling Bank, the summit will be held at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. Key stakeholders, including the Benue State Government, African Union, International Finance Corporation, and Leadway Assurance, will join this initiative. The summit’s theme, “Transitioning from Scarcity to Security,” aligns with both the foundation’s goals and those of its partners, aiming to address food scarcity through sustainable agriculture and practical solutions.

The Chief Executive Officer of Sterling One Foundation shared that ASA offers a valuable platform for driving food security solutions. “At Sterling One Foundation, food security is a core focus,” he explained. “This summit reflects our mission to empower smallholder farmers, especially women and youth, by offering essential skills, financial resources, and better market access.”

Empowering smallholder farmers through resources and training

Sterling One Foundation’s food security initiatives focus on supporting smallholder farmers, who are central to African economies. By equipping farmers with practical tools, resources, and training, the foundation aims to improve resilience and productivity across the agricultural sector. Programs targeting women and youth specifically seek to boost economic growth within communities while directly improving livelihoods for those who depend on farming.

The foundation stressed that agriculture is essential to Africa’s economy and sustains a large percentage of the population. According to Sterling One, “ASA will feature focused panel discussions and high-level conversations, bringing together leaders from public, private, and non-profit sectors.” These sessions will help participants explore practical strategies to strengthen food security and encourage sustainable farming practices across the continent.

Partnering for sustainable agricultural solutions across Africa

With ASA, Sterling One Foundation intends to tackle Africa’s food security challenges through collaboration. This summit brings experts from various sectors together to address the root causes of food insecurity in Africa. By combining resources and expertise, Sterling One Foundation and its partners plan to create resilient agricultural systems that can better withstand market and environmental challenges.

As a registered non-profit, Sterling One Foundation is committed to reducing poverty across Nigeria and Africa through focused interventions. Its social impact programs support five critical sectors: climate action, health, education and youth development, gender equality, and food security. Through this partnership with ASA, Sterling One Foundation aims to build lasting solutions to food security, strengthening communities and enhancing Africa’s agricultural sector.
