President Bola Tinubu has called for an increase in the economic value of Nigeria’s bilateral relations with partner nations. He made this appeal while receiving Letters of Credence from the new ambassadors of Portugal, Vietnam, and Kuwait at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s enduring relationship with Portugal, emphasizing shared interests in trade, culture, and energy. He welcomed Portuguese Ambassador Jorge Adao Martins Dos Santos, expressing optimism about enhancing bilateral ties.

“It is good to have you in Nigeria,” Tinubu said. “Your presence here will further improve our relations. We need to work together on localized production of mineral deposits. My door is always open, and you can reach me through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and my Chief of Staff.”

Ambassador Dos Santos noted the strong interest of Portuguese investors in Nigeria, particularly in the energy sector. He mentioned that trade in gas between Nigeria and Portugal has been robust, predating the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“We are one of the highest buyers of Nigerian gas,” Dos Santos said. “Portuguese companies are also involved in constructing the rail line from Kano to the Niger Republic, which will be completed in two years.”

In his meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Biu Quoc Hung, President Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s readiness to benefit from Vietnam’s technological advancements.

“We value our bilateral agreements with Vietnam, especially in technology,” Tinubu stated. “We look forward to enhancing our partnership through development collaboration.”

Ambassador Hung expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future under Tinubu’s leadership and emphasized his commitment to strengthening economic ties.

“Under your leadership, I see Nigeria overcoming its challenges and becoming one of the happiest nations,” Hung said. “I am here to reinforce our relations and improve economic ties.”

During his meeting with the Ambassador of Kuwait, Salim Khalifa Mohammed Almuzayen, President Tinubu expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s longstanding good relations with Nigeria. He extended his appreciation to the Emir and the Crown Prince of Kuwait.

“I am glad we are working to enhance the value of our relationship,” Tinubu said. “We are committed to the development of our people and will explore opportunities for economic ties. My door is always open.”

Ambassador Almuzayen assured President Tinubu of his dedication to strengthening bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of both countries.

In these meetings, Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to fostering strong international partnerships. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in various sectors, including energy, technology, and infrastructure.

Portugal, Vietnam, and Kuwait all expressed their enthusiasm for improving relations with Nigeria. The discussions focused on economic growth, technological advancement, and infrastructure development.

Tinubu’s open-door policy aims to facilitate seamless communication and cooperation with these nations. His approach underscores Nigeria’s desire to be a key player on the global stage by enhancing its bilateral ties.

As Nigeria seeks to diversify its economy and boost development, these international partnerships will play a crucial role. By fostering strong relationships with countries like Portugal, Vietnam, and Kuwait, Nigeria aims to drive economic growth and improve the lives of its citizens.

In conclusion, President Tinubu’s recent engagements with new ambassadors highlight Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its international relations. These meetings have set the stage for enhanced economic collaboration, technological advancements, and infrastructure development. Nigeria is poised to benefit from these partnerships, driving its progress and positioning itself as a significant global player.
