BREAKING: Citing Crude Theft, Criminal Activity, Aiteo Cancels Infrastructure Surveillance Contract of Amotoi, Livingstone, Others

Immediate Cancellation of Security Contracts with Amotoi Global Services and Others

by Oluwatosin Alabi

Key points:

  • Aiteo ends all security surveillance contracts with Amotoi Global Services Ltd, Barrister Clement Amunaboye, Obiene M Obiene, Thomas Livingstone, and Christopher Ezekiel Enu.
  • The termination followed confirmation of their involvement in massive crude theft, high fraud, and injurious criminal activities that compromised Aiteo’s operations.

Nigeria’s indigenous energy company, Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO), the operator of the NNPC/Aiteo Joint Venture on OML 29, has immediately canceled all security surveillance contracts with Amotoi Global Services Limited and Barrister Clement Amunaboye, its promoter.

Additionally, security contracts with Obiene M Obiene (also known as “Organiser”), Thomas Livingstone, and Christopher Ezekiel Enu have also been canceled.

Aiteo announced in a statement on Monday that its decision followed confirmation that these individuals and the company had compromised its operations by engaging in massive crude theft, high fraud, and injurious criminal activities.

The full text of the statement by Aiteo reads:

Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company Limited Cancels All Contracts with Amotoi Global Services and Other Security Providers

Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO), the operator of the NNPC/Aiteo Joint Venture on OML 29, wishes to notify the public, particularly all relevant regulatory and government authorities within the oil and gas industry, law enforcement and security agencies, and all relevant third parties associated with the security of its operating installations and infrastructure, that it has canceled, with immediate effect, any security surveillance or contractual arrangements it had with the following:

  1. Barrister Clement Amunaboye (trading as Amotoi Global Services Ltd)
  2. Obiene M Obiene (also known as “Organiser”)
  3. Thomas Livingstone
  4. Christopher Ezekiel Enu

These cancellations follow confirmation of various damaging nefarious activities that have compromised our operations, including grave safety violations, high fraud, injurious criminal activity, gross negligence, and the unacceptable cumulative exposure of our assets and business, perpetrated by the named entities and individuals. Consequently, any and all relationships or transactions with them, whether jointly or severally, purportedly on our behalf, cease immediately. Any further involvement with these entities or individuals ostensibly pertaining to our company is hereby disclaimed.

Commenting on this development, AEEPCO’s Group Managing Director, Victor Okoronkwo, said: “For years, our company and its stakeholders have borne the worst impact of crude theft, facilities vandalization, and crude trafficking, culminating not only in huge financial losses but also causing severe disruption to our operations. Despite the painful price we have had to pay, it is particularly galling to discover that we have been undermined by the very entities or individuals who were supposed to secure our facilities and output. This speaks to the depth of the decay and the severity of the problem facing producers like us and calls for a heightened, urgent, and comprehensive escalation and implementation of corrective measures.”
